Program Profile
The Sexual Assault Domestic Violence (SADV) Care Program is a service that is accessed through the Emergency Department 24 hours a day to provide support medical care and forensic evidence collection to individuals who have experienced a sexual assault or to individuals who have experienced a recent incident of domestic violence. The service includes a follow-up clinic to provide medical and counseling services to anyone who has experienced domestic violence or sexual assault. The SADV Care Program is an outpatient clinic located at the Brantford General Hospital site of the Brant Community Healthcare System. The team consists of on-call Nurses Medical Director Program Co-ordinator and Social Workers.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Manager Department of Social Work you will be responsible to provide quality social work services congruent with the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. The social work position provides trauma- focused therapy and support for people who are current or past survivors of sexual abuse and/or domestic violence. The social worker is part of a multi-disciplinary team and is responsible for psychosocial trauma assessment developing treatment plans in conjunction with the client using a trauma- focused model to provide psychotherapy as well as advocacy and community liaison/referral as required. The social worker is required to maintain appropriate case records and departmental statistics as well as perform other related duties as requested/negotiated by or with the Manager and/or Coordinator.
