Day Shift: 7:30am-4:00pm Monday- Friday with Rotating Saturdays: 8am-12pm

PositionSummary:

  • The Clinical Lead Lab Technician reports to Supervisor/Manager. Able to work independently and serves as the authority in assigned area(s) in the absence of management or others in senior capacity. Responsible for organization & daily operation of assigned laboratory including but not limited to: workload and personnel scheduling & time verification quality control inventory equipment maintenance and conformance with the divisions quality assurance program. Responsible for initiating or verifying that proper actions are taken to resolve problems. Insures requisition and patient data are accurately reviewed entered and processed in the assigned systems.
  • This is a hands-on/working lead role and maintains an active presence in the wok areas. The Lead Laboratory Technician in most roles will utilize their phlebotomy/specimen collection and laboratory skills; will be assigned to and performing specimen collection/phlebotomy direct patient contact. Verifies (and enters) patient identification and data. Responsible for processing samples performing laboratory tests and operating lab instrumentation. Maintains inventory and supplies follows standard operating procedures safety guidelines and regulatory requirements. Provides excellent customer service and patient satisfaction; communicating with care and compassion at all levels.
  • Trains new employees and students. Provides competency review of staff; participates with Supervisor in the interviewing and evaluating of employees. May supervise daily activities of Lab Tech I and II or Lab Tech-Certified Phlebotomist and/or Clinical Laboratory Scientist MLT.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent; with courses in biology chemistry mathematics required.
  • Associates or BS degree preferred.
  • Completion of an accredited phlebotomy program highly desired.

  • *To be eligible for ASCP-PBT certification you must complete an accredited or NAACLS approved phlebotomy program including clinical rotation/internship within the last five years or completed a formal two part phlebotomy training program within the last five years (40 hours classroom and 100 venipunctures and 25 skin punctures) or be certified in another allied health profession (RN LPN MT etc.) which included formal phlebotomy training and completion of 100 venipunctures and 25 skin punctures.

2 years (full-time equivalent) as a Lab Tech/Phlebotomist; with some experience in special projects leadership quality control & improvement.

  • Phlebotomy Certification required. ASCP or other JHH Pathology Department accepted certifying agency.
  • Certification must be maintained and third party verified.

Work Experience:

  • 2 years (full-time equivalent) as a Lab Tech/Phlebotomist; with some experience in special projects leadership quality control & improvement.

Salary Range: Minimum 21.56/hour - Maximum 35.60/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
