Activate is a tech company known for creating Canadas first full-scale interactive gaming facility. We are experiencing significant expansion and are looking to expand our team with the addition of a Senior Accountant. TheSenior Accountantworks with Finance Sales andActivatespartners to ensureaccuraterecording reconciliation and reporting of financial role manages core accountingand treasuryactivitiessupports audit and compliancerequirements andidentifies opportunities to improve accounting processes. This is a full-time permanent position.
The Duties and Responsibilities:
Month-End Closing Activities & Financial Reporting
- Prepare andreviewmonth-end journal entries and reconciliations.
- Assist with the month-end close process to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate variances or discrepancies.
- Support the preparation of month-end financial statements and internal reports.
Daily Transaction & Treasury Management
- Ensuretimelyandaccurateposting of daily financial transactions in the accounting system.
- Support treasury activities such asmonitoringcash balances processingtreasurytransactions andmaintainingrequired documentation.
- Ensurecompliance with treasury policies and internal controls.
- Maintain organized records to support audit and compliance requirements.
- Reviewaccountspayable transactions for accuracy and compliance.
- Ensure proper documentation and controls aremaintainedto supportaccuratefinancial reporting.
Tax&Compliance
- Support sales tax filings and ensuretimelysubmissions
- Assistwith compliance activities related to accounting standards internal controls and company policies.
- Support external audits and financial reviews by preparing schedules reconciliations and required documentation.
- Respond to auditor inquiries and follow up on audit findings as required.
Process Improvement & Systems
- Participate in process improvement initiatives to streamline accounting and transaction processes.
- Assistwith documentation and standardization of accounting procedures.
The Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance ora relatedfield.
- Professional accounting designation (CPA or equivalent) is required.
- At least 5 years of transferable work experience; minimum of3years ofrelatedexperience in accounting or financeroles;public accounting experience isan asset.
- Advanced Excel skills (including Power Query); ERP experience is an asset.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
- Strong experience withmonth-end close and financial reporting.
- High attention to detail with strong organizational and time-management skills
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
