F.H. Collins Secondary School is currently seeking a passionate educator to join our dynamic learning community. F.H.C is a dual-track English/French Immersion school serving approximately 800 students in grades 8 through 12. We provide students with a diverse range of academic athletic performance outdoor/experiential trades and arts programs. We are proud of our strong academic programming cultural diversity and commitment to meeting the needs of all learners.

Located in the capital city of Whitehorse Yukon F.H.C sits alongside the Yukon River on the traditional territory of the Kwanlin Dün First Nation and Taan Kwächän Council. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Please clearly demonstrate on your cover letter and resume how you meet the following qualifications and experience:

Bachelor of Education or equivalent with university courses in Math.
Recent classroom experience teaching math at the secondary level (7-12)
Recent experience with differentiated instruction and principles of inclusion.
Recent classroom experience with differentiated instruction and principles of inclusion in the context of current BC curriculum
Recent classroom experience using competency-based instruction and evaluation
Demonstrated experience teaching math in a variety of ways to address various ways of understanding and address gaps in learning

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND SUITABILITY:

Candidates should have and may be assessed on their:

Experience working with and effectively supporting students with learning difficulties
Superior classroom management planning and organizational skills;
Demonstrated ability to differentiate instruction using current competency-based assessment curriculum pedagogy and practice;
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work positively and collaboratively with students parents school staff leadership and the school community
Experience incorporating First Nations ways of knowing doing and being into math considered an asset;
Ability to adapt and modify strategies and curriculum to meet a range of learning abilities
Willingness and ability to teach all relevant Learning Standards and foster an experiential learning philosophy;
Ability and interest in working to support whole school goals beyond the classroom (e.g. sports experiential opportunities clubs)

A knowledge of and sensitivity to the culture and aspirations of First Nations people of Yukon and a culturally diverse student population
