About Tintern Grammar and Tinternwood Farm
Tintern Grammar is one of Melbournes most respected schools educating students from our Early Learning Centre through to Year 12. Our Tinternwood Farm is a 5.6-hectare working farm located on campus and overseen by a qualified Farm Manager. The farm is home to sheep ducks chickens rabbits goats and alpacas and plays an integral role in the academic life of our students.

From hands-on learning experiences for younger students to agricultural studies for older students the farm fosters responsibility a love of the outdoors and healthy habits. About the Role

We are seeking a Farm Groundspersonto join our team on a part time basis (1 day per week) commencing in February 2026. The specific day to be worked is flexible and hours are 8:00am to 4:00pm. Reporting to the Farm & Sustainable Future Coordinator you will take pride in outdoor spaces and assist with the maintenance of Tinternwood Farms grounds and support farm operations. This role requires someone who is comfortable working around livestock and enjoys contributing to a dynamic educational environment. This role may suit a retiree or someone seeking work life balance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain school farm grounds and infrastructure to ensure a safe and functional environment
  • Perform routine groundskeeping (mowing trimming planting watering weed control)
  • Assist with livestock handling and daily farm tasks
  • Support planting cultivating harvesting and maintenance of instructional crops
  • Operate and maintain farm and grounds equipment (tractors mowers hand and power tools)
  • Ensure safe use storage and disposal of tools equipment and chemicals
  • Maintain fences gates irrigation systems greenhouses sheds and pathways
  • Assist with waste removal pest and disease management and storm or emergency clean-ups
  • Communicate with staff to support farm operations and educational programs

About You

You will bring practical skills flexibility and a collaborative approach to this role. Essential competencies include:

  • Practical knowledge of grounds maintenance and ability to use hand tools
  • Trade Certificate in gardening or landscaping (advantageous)
  • ChemCert certificate (advantageous)
  • Current drivers licence
  • Ability to work safely and independently
  • Organised self-motivated and adaptable
  • Comfortable working around livestock
  • Current Employee Working with Children Check
  • Police Check
