Arise/EFR is looking for an Advocacy Manager
Job Summary:
The Advocacy Manager supports the mission of the Center for Independent Living by leading and coordinating advocacy initiatives that promote disability rights accessibility and inclusion. This role is responsible for day-to-day oversight of the Centers advocacy staff and program activities with a focus on strengthening our agencys core independent living services. The manager works closely with consumers community partners and policymakers to advance systemic change while ensuring that individual advocacy needs are met. This position works in our Syracuse Auburn and Chittenango offices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree required
- Three years experience supervising staff
- Experience working in the disability rights field required independent living center knowledge preferred; must be highly flexible
- Knowledge of the ADA housing regulations benefits and entitlement programs
- Excellent advocacy skills and ability to form collaborative relationships
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills essential
- Demonstrated proficiency with computer applications
- Clean driver license and registered inspected insured and reliable transportation
Essential Functions:
- Provide leadership guidance and direct supervision to advocacy staff based in our Cayuga Madison and Onondaga offices to ensure timely and high-quality service delivery
- Engage and motivate staff to conduct their work with the independent living philosophy as the guiding principle
- Foster collaboration among all agency staff and programs
- Develop program workplans and oversee the successful engagement in activities that ensure positive outcomes and contract compliance
- Develop staff skills to strengthen and broaden our agencys services and their delivery
Work location: Onondaga County - Syracuse Auburn and Chittenango offices
Hours and days: Monday-Friday 8:00am -4:00pm
Compensation: $25.96 -$27.88 per hour
40 hours per week including one-hour paid lunch
