About the role
We are looking for a Quality Assurance Manager with a strong hands-on background. The main focus of this role is practical QA engineering: test design test strategy collaboration with Dev/BA/PM and contribution to addition you will coordinate and support a small distributed team of 5 QA engineers rather than act as a full-time people manager.
You will work in a cross-location team (Canada Serbia Sri Lanka) and report to the teams Manager.
Key responsibilities
Hands-on QA (primary focus)
- Participate in requirement discussions and feature kick-offs: review specifications identify gaps ensure testability collaborate with BAs and PMs.
- Define and maintain test strategy for your team based on risk and complexity; balance automation and manual testing.
- Design test cases and exploratory charters to ensure sufficient coverage and depth of testing; promote good and advanced testing practices.
- Contribute to test automation: help choose approaches and tools review automated tests plan automation to reduce manual regression.
- Participate in release planning: estimate QA effort identify quality risks manage dependencies ensure release criteria (timing quality regressions) are met.
- Manage defects: triage and prioritize bugs with developers use root-cause analysis (RCA) to improve coverage and prevent regressions.
- Drive continuous improvements in QA processes: optimize regression suites improve test documentation contribute to CI/CD testing practices.
Team coordination (5 QA Engineers in Canada Serbia Sri Lanka)
- Plan and coordinate the work of 5 QA Engineers: set priorities distribute tasks follow up on progress and delivery.
- Ensure consistent on-time and robust team deliverables in line with team objectives and release commitments.
- Align team delivery with your Manager: regularly communicate goals risks issues and support needs.
- Mentor and support team members on test design automation risk analysis and working with requirements; encourage knowledge sharing.
- Foster healthy collaboration culture in the distributed team: close cooperation with Developers and BAs shared ownership for quality.
Qualifications :
Experience
- 4 years in software testing (manual and/or automation) including 12 years acting as Senior / Lead QA Engineer or similar.
- Experience defining test strategies and planning QA work at the team level.
- Experience leading or coordinating other QA engineers (technical leadership mentoring task coordination).
- Product development background is strongly preferred (B2B ERP SaaS or complex business systems).
Technical skills
- Experience with Selenium C#/Java/Python and SQL (ideally MS SQL) is mandatory.
- Strong understanding of testing types: functional regression integration exploratory UI API DB-related testing.
- Ability to design effective test cases and exploratory charters select appropriate testing techniques based on risks.
- Experience with test automation frameworks and CI/CD; ability to assess quality of automated tests and guide automation direction.
- Good understanding of platform components (UI DB APIs integrations) and their impact on test strategy and infrastructure.
Soft skills
- Ability to organize and drive results in a small distributed team across multiple time zones.
- Strong communication skills: clearly explain risks quality status and expectations to Devs BAs PMs and your Manager.
- Ownership mindset: take responsibility for quality outcomes of the teams features and releases; focus on continuous improvement.
- Confident English for daily communication in an international environment.
