The Senior Value Optimization Engineer Chassis will lead technical cost reduction and value optimization initiatives across chassis systems and components while ensuring performance safety quality and customer experience are fully maintained.
Key Responsibilities
Lead identification benchmarking budgeting and tracking of technical cost reduction initiatives for chassis systems and components
Define and support cost target setting and ensure delivery against approved objectives
Generate evaluate and approve ideas to reduce material and system costs without compromising performance safety or customer experience
Lead initial engineering feasibility studies competitive benchmarking and technical disposition of new cost-saving ideas
Analyze chassis designs materials and manufacturing processes to identify value optimization opportunities
Lead benchmarking and standardization activities across chassis systems including:
A2MAC teardown reviews
Part and system benchmarking
Vehicle hoist and teardown evaluations
Drive standardization strategies across platforms and regions
Coordinate and lead idea generation activities via supplier submissions internal engineering workshops and benchmarking events
Act as a key technical interface with global counterparts to maximize cross-regional sharing of cost-reduction ideas and best practices
Present regional and global cost reduction results including detailed subsystem-level reporting
Partner with PC&CO Purchasing Finance and Suppliers to drive value optimization initiatives
Define and provide metafunction budget requirements to PC&CO for Global Finance (COO) approval
Lead and optimize Value Optimization tools (eVOS MCM etc.) across all regions
Establish and govern common VO methods processes and tools
Own and track VO KPIs (status vs. target dashboards)
Ensure compliance with Internal Control System (ICS) requirements
Ensure all VO-driven chassis system and component changes meet performance durability safety and regulatory requirements
Provide technical leadership to ensure changes are robust through design validation and production
Support system and component benchmarking activities for cost engineering and technical decision-making
Qualifications :
Bachelors degree in Engineering or Manufacturing from an ABET-accredited university
8 years of experience in automotive chassis systems within design release manufacturing or cost engineering roles
Strong expertise in chassis system architecture and hardware (suspension steering braking subframes structural components)
Proven experience across the full product lifecycle
Solid background in activity-based costing cost modeling and/or quoting
Proficiency in NX and Teamcenter
Strong ability to analyze designs and processes to identify cost reduction opportunities
Excellent leadership communication and stakeholder management skills
High proficiency in English (spoken and written)
Preferred Skills & Experience
Previous Design & Release experience in chassis systems
Strong supplier and negotiation experience
Experience working in global cross-functional environments
Knowledge of Shainin Red X or other reactive quality tools
Knowledge of Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) or other proactive quality methodologies
Experience with Lean Product Development principles
