Structural Forensic Engineer - Full Time (Chatham/Windsor Ontario)

We have an existing opportunity to add a Structural Forensic Engineer to our Chatham/Windsor Ontario team.

The successful applicant will be responsible for performing forensic investigations for structural building envelope as well as building code compliance issues. Strong written and verbal communication skills are a must. Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of programs is a must. Good presentation skills are an asset. Must be able to communicate effectively with clients and other stakeholders. A willingness to travel is a must.

Responsibilities:

  • Assess analyze and report on the cause and origin of structural failures

  • Interview witnesses service personnel and other local officials

  • Provide structural designs for restoration and renovation purposes

  • Develop and complete full working drawings for building department acceptance

  • Complete complex or innovative projects of any size where new or innovative design approaches are required

  • Lead project(s) from start to finish

  • Provide clean accurate and timely designs


Education Knowledge and Experience Required:

  • Minimum Bachelors Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering required

  • Professional Engineering License or the ability to be licensed in the province of Ontario required

  • Minimum 5 years relevant work experience

  • Preferably experienceincludes strong residential design experienceand/or equivalent work experience

  • Experience within the insurance and legal industry is a must

  • A demonstrated track record of taking projects to successful completion

  • Proficient in standard Microsoft Office (MS Word Outlook & Excel)

  • Expert knowledge and understanding of the Regional Building Code

  • Hand-on construction experience would be an asset

  • Positive self-driven motivated personal attitude

  • A willingness and passion to: support the marketing and sales department through attendance at presentations and industry events

  • Customer facing experience: Ability to discuss projects budgets with clients and maintain continuous communications throughout the project

Competitive Pay: $80000 - $120000
