JOB SUMMARY:

To provide general information about the WIC Program to prospective participants. To perform clerical duties necessary for certification and re-certification of participants onto the WIC Program. Process patients in a timely manner assist providers and patients respect the confidentiality of agency and clients. Organizes work for the day.


WORK SCHEDULE DEMANDS:

  • Full-time 35 hours per week.
  • Monday Tuesday and Thursday 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
  • Wednesday 9:30am - 6:30pm
  • Friday 9:00am - 4:00 pm
  • May be required to work in Cranston or Coventry locations.
Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma
  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Ability to work as a member of a team
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred
  • Knowledge of WIC services preferred
  • Provide/maintain all required immunizations and/or vaccinations
  • Complete all required background checks

COMMUNICATION SKILLS:

  • Excellent verbal communication skills necessary to work with WIC participants explaining WIC benefits rights and obligations of patients and explanation of checks.
  • Must have excellent communication skills for all levels of client provider and colleague interaction.
  • Professional telephone manner.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Explanation of WIC benefits and expectations
  • Overall clerical responsibilities filing telephone chart preparation inputting data in computer
  • Printing checks for food
  • Witnessing and documenting income eligibility for program
  • Receive and process patients records intake data and labs
  • Obtain and record patient data in charts
  • Operate and maintain clinical equipment
  • Properly dispose of medical waste and sharps
  • Organizes work for the day
  • Organizes and distributes internal and external mail
  • Distribute WIC checks and maintain E-pad signatures.
  • Document in clients individual chart when appointments are not kept.
  • Maintain appointment booking system and smooth patient flow.
  • Participate in strategies to reduce no-show rates.
  • Maintain filing.
  • Participate in agency outreach efforts.
  • Prepare individual client file for use by competent professional authority during appointment.
  • Prepare distribute and file recertification and termination notices.
  • Maintain clinic supplies. Reorder when necessary
  • Verify applicants proof of residency income and identification. Complete Applicant Agreement Form.
  • Weigh and measure using standardized measuring techniques. Enter information into RI WEBS database.
  • Perform finger stick to obtain blood sample and determine hemoglobin from sample.
  • Complete confidentiality forms.
  • Explain use of alternate shoppers & maintain completed alternate shopper forms in clients chart.
  • Issue WIC I.D. card and V.O.C. documents to WIC participants.
  • Describe the application process and benefits of the WIC Program.
  • Acquaint participants with WIC Allowed Foods.
  • Inform participants of their rights and responsibilities.
  • Inform participants of how to use WIC checks.
  • Provide translation of nutrition counseling for nutritionist when needed (if bilingual).
  • Other duties assigned as required
