Are you a dedicated and passionate Staff Nurse looking to make a change in your career and gain more experience We are currently looking for a Staff Nurse to transfer to our Interventional radiology department where there is one post of 37.5 hours available.
Qualifications & Experience
Must have:
- Be a current Staff Nurse employed by Tallaght University Hospital
- Be a Member of the General Division of the active register of the Nursing and Midwifery board of Ireland.
- Demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development at the appropriate level.
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in acute care sector.
- Have a clinical and administrative capability to properly discharge the functions of the role.
Procedures and Job Description (not exhaustive)
- Prepare for procedures in the Radiology Department organising daily lists liaising with ward nurses re patient preparation blood reports and medication therapy.
- Care and monitoring of patients who have had adverse reaction to contrast CT/MRI IVP Room and/or Nuclear Medicine.
- Participate in the planning of the procedure and the management of the procedural list
- Liaise with referring doctors and ward staff to ensure pre-procedural work is completed
- Prepare equipment for the safe care of the patient during the procedure
- Communicate the procedure requirements with the Interventional Radiologist and provide specialist equipment and instruments needed
- Confirm that the patient has given informed consent and where appropriate signed the consent form
- Communicate with other members of the interventional radiology team
- Communicate with other members of the interventional radiology team regarding the patient
- Ensure the patients identification has been verified.
- Administration of prescribed intravenous sedation and analgesia as per local policy
- Identify potential complications of various drugs used during the procedure including contrast
- Assess plan and implement the total care of the conscious or sedated patient. This includes the monitoring of vital signs and intravenous fluid therapy.
- Maintenance of nursing documentation pre and post procedure.
- Inform the ward nurses of the necessary care of the patient following a procedure.
