TABER CENTRAL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL- Central Elementary School is an Early Learning to grade five elementary school that supports a diverse community of learners in the heart of Taber Alberta. We have a population of approximately 240 students and a staff of 25.

Temporary Educational Assistant approx. 30 hours/week

Hours of work include Monday Thursday 8:20 a.m. 3:25 p.m. and Friday 8:20 a.m. 12:15 p.m.

Taber Central School is seeking a temporary Educational Assistant. Experience working with students of various ages and needs is pertinent. Training with communication English as an additional language and supporting students with complex needs would be considered an asset. An understanding of inclusion and support for diverse learners would be seen as a strength. This position will require the candidate to work closely with another Educational Assistant supporting a student who has complex needs.

An EducationalAssistantin Horizon School Division:

  • Encourages studentsto develop and maintainpositiveinteraction.
  • Maintains confidentialityand a patient supportive and enthusiasticcommitmentto students.
  • As required provides personal care including toileting diapering feeding dressing grooming etc. ensuringthat studentdignity is maintained. Attends to physical needs including lifting positioning and range of motion programs as identified by appropriate personnel.
  • Ensures the safety of students in the school and community which includes maintaining close supervision of students ensuring studentequipment is sanitized and put away retrieving students who attemptto leave their learningenvironment calming and/or restraining students engaged in challenging behaviours; supervising and assisting studentswho utilize a variety of life skill tools (i.e. scissors cooking utensils etc.).
  • Maintains collegial relationships with the students learning team.
