About the position

The Research Office at La Trobe University supports researchers and the broader academic leadership by delivering accurate advice reporting and efficient client services with a strong focus on continual business improvement. Within this structure the Research and Industry Agreements Team manages the development and management of research grant and consulting agreements overseeing legal review risk management financial assessment and reporting throughout the project lifecycle.

The Assistant Grants Advisor is a key member of the Research and Industry Agreements team providing post-award grant management support across a range of funding schemes and funding types. The role ensures compliance with funding agency and grant scheme requirements and for establishing grant and associated agreements to enable the timely commencement of research projects.

Skills and Experience

To be considered for this position you will have:

  • A degree with at least two years work experience in research and/or research management or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Ability to multi-task and move across funding types and to organise and prioritise allocated work.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills including the capacity to interpret and review legal documents instruct legal professionals and the ability to present workshops or facilitate discussion.
  • Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills with the capacity to work both autonomously and collaboratively in small teams.
  • Demonstrated organisation and problem-solving skills with an ability to manage multiple different projects concurrently.
  • Demonstrated high level of self-motivation and personal management skills.
