Description of Work
Salary Range: $43738 - $76542Reporting to the Facility Maintenance Supervisor this position will perform skilled work in the maintenance repair and/or construction of buildings and facilities. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Functioning at the journey level in at least two skilled trades such as electrical plumbing masonry carpentry or similar specializations in connection with maintenance of facilities related equipment and machinery.
- Planning and coordinating multiple trade disciplines while completing complex work assignments.
- Working independently however may seek input from higher level trade specialists or refer unusual work problems to their supervisor for consideration and final determination.
- Supervising skilled semi-skilled and unskilled labor (including offenders) to assist in completing assigned tasks.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
- Working knowledge of the methods practices tools and/or materials used in the general maintenance and/or repair of buildings equipment and/or machinery.
Necessary Special Qualification:
MAY require current certification by the Environmental Protection Agency as a Type I II III or Universal technician as required by Title 40 Code of Federal Regulations Part 82 Subpart F.

The salary grade for this position is NC11. State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as or lower than their current position. If selected for this position a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience funding availability and internal equity. Based upon these factors a pay increase May result.

Harnett Correctional Institution is located in Lillington North Carolina and houses up to 988 male offenders in a medium custody facility.
Minimum Education and Experience

High school or General Educational Development diploma and two years of experience in the performance of the full range of journey level tasks associated with two or more highly complex mechanical or building trades

An equivalent combination of education and experience.
