Position Overview
The Radiologic Technologist (X-Ray) is responsible for performing high-quality diagnostic radiographic examinations under the direction of radiologists and departmental leadership. This role supports patient care across a fast-paced acute care environment and may require assuming limited lead responsibilities during assigned shifts.
Key Responsibilities
Perform diagnostic radiographic examinations in accordance with physician orders and departmental protocols
Prepare patients for procedures by explaining exams positioning patients and ensuring comfort and safety
Select appropriate technical factors to produce diagnostic-quality images
Practice radiation safety and ALARA principles to minimize patient and staff exposure
Operate imaging equipment efficiently and report equipment issues promptly
Process images and enter required data into radiology information systems for documentation and billing
Follow departmental policies procedures and quality standards
Provide general workflow oversight and act as a point of contact during assigned shifts when supervisory staff are unavailable
Support continuity of operations by assisting with coordination and prioritization of imaging workflows as needed
Requirements
A.A.S. in Radiologic Technology or equivalent
Active New York State license/registration as a Radiologic Technologist
Minimum 1 year of experience as an X-Ray Technologist
Ability and willingness to provide lead coverage responsibilities when required
Must successfully pass pre-employment health clearance
