Job Summary
Big Bend Hospice is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing compassionate high-quality end-of-life care to patients and families across the Big Bend region. For more than four decades we have supported individuals facing serious illness through hospice care grief support and community programs. Our mission is rooted in dignity comfort and connection ensuring no one walks this journey alone.
Volunteer Role Overview - Calhoun Jackson and Gulf counites
Volunteers play a vital role in supporting patients and families close to home. Volunteers offer companionship caregiver support Veteran recognition and a comforting presence during an important season of life.
No medical experience is requiredjust a caring heart and a willingness to give a few hours of your time. Volunteers are matched to opportunities that fit their schedule interests and local community. Comprehensive training and ongoing support are provided.

What Volunteers Do
Neighbors helping Neighbors.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to patients
- Offer respite and encouragement to caregivers
- Participate in Veteran recognition activities
- Support patients and families with presence listening and kindness

Qualifications
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Have a valid drivers license and auto insurance
- Take the required level 2 background screen and TB blood test
- Have not lost a close loved one in the last 13 months
