Upper School - Economics Teacher
We are seeking an experienced high school economics teacher to join our faculty in a full-time temporary position beginning in February 2026 and continuing through May 15 2026. The ideal candidate will bring both breadth and depth in their mathematical interests and experiences. They will bring enthusiasm for teaching across our integrated core program while also contributing areas of personal expertise or interest in advanced topics. Candidates will be excited to participate in curriculum development research effective instructional design and test and iterate effective assessment models. Candidates should also have experience incorporating effective feedback for students into their teaching practice.
We are looking for a teacher able to teach three courses in our economics program; Macroeconomics Economic Inequality and Economic Thesis Seminar. As we are a school serving gifted learners committed to an expansive electives program these electives offerings resemble undergraduate- and graduate-level courses. Macroeconomics is taught primarily through the lens of the IS-LM model used in courses such as 100-level Macroeconomics courses in the UCs. Economic Inequality primarily grapples with Pikettys Capital in the 21st Century urban economic theory and statistical tools for quantifying distributive macroeconomic outcomes. Economic Thesis Seminar is our highest level economics elective in which experienced students develop quantitative research in small teams with the intent of changing the field of economics for the better. Ideal candidates will bring expertise relevant to one or more of those classes. In addition to content expertise the ideal candidate will be highly skilled at differentiated instruction and experienced with a variety of teaching approaches.
The candidate will either have taught several years at the high school and/or university level or worked in a professional capacity that had significant overlap with the specific economic curriculum. As we continue to systematize our Upper School program we seek dedicated educators who have an interest in collaborating with our current faculty as partners in the ongoing design and implementation of Nuevas curriculum and programs.

Qualifications
Demonstrated mastery in area of study
Bachelors and advanced university degree
Minimum of three years teaching experience (Preferred)
Successful teaching experience in secondary school and/or university
Excellent oral and written communication skills
A desire to integrate curriculum with other subjects and to teach collaboratively
Flexibility and creativity in working in a dynamic environment where new ideas mistakes and iteration are embraced.
A profound openness to feedback and improvement modeling lifelong learning of practice as well as subject area.
Compensation and Benefits
The full-time equivalent salary range for this position is $79200 - $145900. The starting salary is based upon but not limited to several factors that include type and years of experience education level and addition to these factors the salary for this temporary position will be prorated based on the period of service..
