Responsibilities

  • Delegates nursing care activities andmonitorscare given byappropriate careteam membersin accordance withpatient needs and the team members professional capabilities and qualifications.
  • Assistsin creating a positive work environment bymentoring ofstaff/students andworking with team members to develop andfacilitate initiatives to strive for positive outcomes in quality and care of patients.
  • Complies with all policies and procedures and guides team members with compliance.
  • Reliable attendance is an expectation of the team member role as well as a leader in the unit.
  • Assumes responsibility for continued growth in areas of competencies lifelong learning and mustparticipateonunit and hospitalquality ofcare projects and /orCommittees. Specialty certifications and continuing education are strongly encouraged.
  • Supportsuseof Evidenced Based Practice and incorporates best practices intodailycare routine.
  • Participates in mandatory education and unit meetings per established guidelines.
  • Compiles with all safety goals infection prevention and risk management policies and procedures.
  • Completes annual mandatory education.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Successfully completed an accredited nursing program required.
  • All newly licensed RNs with less than six (6) months of acute RN experience at the time of application are required to successfully complete the Nurse Residency program
  • BSN Preferred

Experience:

  • Prefer one (1) yearof Emergency Department clinical experience or demonstrated clinical efficiency.

License(s)/Certification(s):

  • Valid Nursing License with authorization to work in Iowa required
  • Basic Certified Life Support certification required
  • Must possess Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or obtain within 6 months of hire.

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification within 6 months from date of hire required
  • Trauma Nurse Core Course required within one year of hire.
  • Must obtain NIHSS education within 90 days of hire and maintain every two years thereafter.
  • Completion of six hours of stroke education prior to the end of orientation and annually required.
  • MOAB (Management of Aggressive Behaviors) certified within the first 6 months of hire and maintain certification throughout employment (renewal every year) required.
