Your role

CBC Calgary is looking for a Marketing Communications and Brand Producer to lead the regional team in establishing strategic partnerships community engagement initiatives and marketing campaigns. With a focus on the values of equity and inclusion this role will be instrumental in increasing brand awareness and building lasting partnerships with new and diverse communities in Southern Alberta.

Reporting to the Senior Manager Marketing Communications and Brand this position requires a strong communicator and strategic planner with experience producing high-impact public engagement media relations and marketing campaigns. This includes research and analysis strategic planning and execution creative development event planning communications counsel and issues management budget oversight and results measurement.

You will play an important role in building collaborative relationships with CBC Calgarys leadership team including managers editorial teams external partners and audiences to produce leading-edge campaigns that build brand trust and loyalty. Your exceptional communications and interpersonal skills will be key to providing feedback and guidance both to internal and external project contributors including: editorial producers marketing and communications team members community partners agencies and other vendors.

As a critical thinker and brand advocate you combine strategic analysis and communications acumen to help foster meaningful relationships and influence change. You are driven by translating objectives into strategies and you excel at managing projects throughout all phases of production from audience and channel research to creative campaign development and execution to measurement. You have a deep understanding and experience working with a range of stakeholders and audiences including: community leaders influencers government media and the public.

Function:

Plans conceives organizes and/or develops the production and realization of strategic marketing communications and brand projects in southern Alberta. Work must conform to and respect CBC program and journalistic policies standards and practices and the ethics related to copyright and advertising standards the producer is ultimately responsible for ensuring this occurs. As such you must be able to make quick and sound judgements in accordance with these guidelines including recognizing when other counsel is needed.

Key Tasks:

  • Develops and produces strategic partnerships community engagement initiatives and marketing campaigns including: assigning; researching; writing; owned earned paid and social media; graphics; creative briefs; and measurement.

  • Conceives and develops ideas and concepts reflecting the diversity in our communities in a manner that is inclusive and delivers meaningful results.

  • Participates in preparing marketing communications and brand objectives for the region.

  • Determines positioning and format of all projects and campaigns to ensure alignment with CBCs strategic priorities brand standards and equity inclusion and diversity goals.

  • Plans organizes coordinates and implements marketing communications and brand campaigns including: target audience insights consultations and outreach brand alignment and positioning messaging strategic planning creative development tactical implementation and measurement.

  • Collaborate with regional and national producers as part of a Community of Practice (COP) to advance meaningful community engagement.

  • Ensure robust and ongoing communication and feedback with editorial teams.

  • Plans selects and requests for the approval of the Senior Manager the financial and production/resource requirements including: contributors and other participants event logistics materials and facilities. During planning production and post-production is accountable for exercising budget authority.

  • Exercises project management responsibility for strategic partnerships community engagement initiatives and marketing campaigns.

  • Evaluates all aspects of production against key program performance indicators (KPIs) as well as production personnel and freelance contributors all with the goal to optimize strategies and spend based on performance.

As required performs the following tasks:

  • Select re-write and/or edit copy or text written by others;

  • Ensure in collaboration with Copyright Clearance Officers or others the proper and accurate clearance of all material used in a partnership or campaign;

  • Assign coordinate and supervise the work of personnel who contribute to a partnership or campaign for which the Producer is responsible.

As the Marketing Communications and Brand Producer you will bring the following skills and experience to CBC :

  • University degree or equivalent in communications public relations or a related field.

  • Minimum of five (5) years communications experience.

  • Demonstrated success collaborating with and assigning work to a high-performing communications team.

  • Strategic leadership experience developing and implementing progressive and innovative partnerships community engagement initiatives and marketing campaigns.

  • Proven experience producing public and stakeholder engagement initiatives media relations campaigns and marketing projects and delivering measurable results.

  • Ability to anticipate emerging issues and trends and then frame communications strategies to address them.

  • Excels at developing big ideas within a communications framework.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and proven success building high trust relationships.

  • Highly motivated flexible diplomatic and tactful.

  • Superior analytical decision-making and judgment skills with an ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines while remaining productive and on budget.

  • Exceptional project management skills including project scoping brief development and project team leadership to drive tangible results.

  • Experience managing external suppliers.

  • Excellent organizational skills; ability to prioritize.

  • Budget management experience.

  • Knowledge of languages including but not limited to Mandarin Tagalog Arabic Hindi Punjabi Spanish or any Indigenous languages is considered an asset.

  • Availability to travel for short periods if required.

  • Excellent working knowledge of Google Suite tools (Docs Drive Sheets Slides Calendar Meet).

  • Experience with InDesign Illustrator or Photoshop with an understanding of print and digital specs for creative outputs.
