DescriptionHip Hop Dance Instructor at Yesler Community Center
The Associated Recreation Council (ARC) in partnership with Seattle Parks & Recreation is hiring a Hip Hop Dance Instructor. The Hip Hop Dance Instructor will be responsible for programming and delivering a hip hop dance class to children aged 5-12 years. The Instructor will be responsible for creating lessons and teaching the fundamentals of hip hop. The instructor must have the ability to engage with a diverse group of children and manage a classroom of students. A passion for teaching hip hop and dance are a must!This is a year-round part-time role starting asap. There are multiple opportunities to extend.

- Wednesday 5:30 pm 6:30 pm / Saturday 2:00 pm- 3:00 pm
- The schedule is subject to change based upon programming needs and requirements.
Responsibilities:
Relationship Building
- Create a safe welcoming and inclusive environment for all participants
- Collaborate with recreation coordinator and other on-site staff to ensure safety of all participants
- Collaborate with recreation coordinator to manage behavioral concerns of all participants
- Communicate with parents coworkers and Seattle Parks and Recreation partners in a professional and courteous manner
- Attend all required meetings and training
Care and Safety
- Complete required accident/incident forms if participants or instructors are injured
Programming Requirements
- Develop and deliver developmentally appropriate lesson plans/activities in the subject area of hip hop dance to ages 5-12 at multiple sites throughout Seattle
- Use critical thinking to problem-solve
- Generate supply lists for each class as needed
- Maintain appropriate professional appearance
- Daily set-up take down and cleaning of space
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- 2 years prior experience with hip hop dance required
- Prior youth programming experience required
- Must have demonstrated working experience working with families community members and partners to foster positive relationships
- If hired you will have approximately 3 hours of Human Resources new hire onboarding/trainingand 1 hour of on-site on-boarding/training
- If hired must successfully complete/pass a background check
- If hired must provide proof of eligibility to work in the US and valid government issued ID andsign up for direct deposit with either checking or savings account
