Job Title: Undergraduate Admissions Counselor

Status: Full-time Exempt

Summary

The Undergraduate Admissions Counselor plays a critical role in supporting Dominican University of Californias enrollment goals through strategic student-centered recruitment. As a member of a collaborative admissions team this position manages an assigned recruitment territory builds meaningful relationships with prospective students and families and uses data and CRM tools to guide outreach application review and yield efforts. The Counselor represents Dominican both on campus and in the field and contributes to a high-touch outcomes-driven admissions process.



Qualifications

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Prospective Student Counseling & Yield Engagement

  1. Manage recruitment activities for an assigned geographic territory from inquiry through enrollment with a focus on application completion admission and yield.
  2. Build sustained personalized relationships with prospective students and families through phone email text virtual engagement in-person meetings and events.
  3. Counsel students and families on admissions requirements timelines academic programs and next steps providing individualized follow-up based on student needs and enrollment stage.
  4. Use CRM tools (Slate) to track engagement segment audiences and tailor communication strategies to support enrollment and yield goals.
  5. Schedule and coordinate campus visits interviews and follow-up engagement to help students envision themselves at Dominican.
  6. Conduct admissions interviews campus tours classroom visits and presentations for individuals and groups.

Recruitment Travel & Territory Strategy

  1. Develop and execute a data-informed recruitment plan for an assigned territory including high school visits college fairs and counselor outreach.
  2. Represent Dominican University of California at high school and community college visits college fairs and special recruitment programs.
  3. Build and maintain strong relationships with high school and college counselors to encourage referrals and ensure accurate representation of Dominican programs and policies.
  4. Coordinate all aspects of recruitment travel including scheduling transportation and accommodations.
  5. Extensive overnight travel is required primarily during peak recruitment seasons in the fall with additional travel in the spring. Evening and weekend work is required throughout the year.

Application Review & Evaluation

  1. Review evaluate and render admissions decisions on student applications including transcripts test scores essays applications and letters of recommendation.
  2. Apply admissions policies consistently while exercising professional judgment aligned with institutional priorities and enrollment goals.
  3. Communicate with applicants to ensure completion of application files and timely submission of required materials.

Data CRM & Daily Operations

  1. Maintain accurate timely records of student interactions recruitment activity and application progress within Slate CRM.
  2. Monitor territory performance application pipelines and enrollment trends to inform outreach follow-up and yield strategies.
  3. Provide exceptional customer service to students families counselors faculty and staff through email phone and in-person interactions.
  4. Collaborate regularly with the admissions team and supervisor to assess progress toward enrollment goals and adjust strategies as needed.

Recruitment Events & Yield Programming

  1. Assist in the planning coordination and execution of recruitment and yield events such as open houses admitted student programs and off-campus receptions.
  2. Actively engage prospective and admitted students and families at events providing guidance that supports enrollment decision-making.

Project Management & Strategic Initiatives

  1. Participate in and lead admissions initiatives such as Student Ambassador programming campus visit experiences group tours alumni engagement and electronic recruitment campaigns.
  2. Contribute to yield strategies communication planning and special outreach initiatives for targeted student populations.
  3. Develop and maintain documentation workflows and best practices related to assigned programs or projects.
  4. Assist with research and analysis related to domestic and international recruitment strategies enrollment trends and outreach effectiveness.
  5. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree from a four-year college or university or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Valid drivers license with a satisfactory driving record (must be maintained)
  • Ability and willingness to consent to a background investigation
  • Ability to rent automobiles
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline- and goal-driven environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to present effectively to diverse audiences
  • Proficiency with CRM systems and data-driven workflows (Slate preferred)
  • Strong organizational project management and event coordination skills
  • Bilingual in Spanish (preferred)
