Pinchot Gardens Residential Program is now accepting Students who are enrolled in their masters or bachelors program.
This is a non-paid for school credit only position.
Location: 3301 E. Pinchot Ave. Phoenix AZ 85018
Operation hours: 24/7
Flexible 1st or 2nd shift up to 10 hours a week depending on class schedule.
Pinchot Gardens is a 24/7 residential treatment program serving women with co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders. Our 30-day program offers a compassionate non-judgmental environment where women including those with infants and children receive holistic care and support.
We are currently offering an exciting internship opportunity for individuals passionate about behavioral health and recovery. This internship is ideal for students or emerging professionals seeking real-world experience in substance abuse treatment and mental health services.
Under the supervision of a qualified Terros Health professional; the student-intern will perform tasks related to their specific area of study and the Intern learning a highly professional healthcare setting provided by Terros Health; the student will be given an opportunity to apply and continue to learn by practical application the principals theory and knowledge from their related course work.
Interns will gain hands-on experience in:
- Group facilitation and co-leading therapeutic sessions.
- Client outreach including connecting past clients to continued care such as Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP)Assessment.
- Engagement with individuals experiencing substance use disorders.
- Learning and applying Motivational Interviewing and the Stages of Change model.
- Exposure to trauma-informed client-centered care in a residential setting

Qualifications- Applicants must be currently enrolled in a supervised field instruction class graduate level i.e. Social Work Counseling.
- Applicants will possess the following attributes: Empathy and Compassion Ability to connect with clients in a non-judgmental supportive manner.
- Strong Communication Skills Comfortable speaking in groups making outreach calls and documenting interactions clearly.
- Interest in Behavioral Health Passion for learning about substance use disorders mental health and trauma-informed care
- Team Collaboration Willingness to work closely with staff and contribute to a positive team environment
- Adaptability Able to adjust to the dynamic nature of residential treatment and client needs
- Basic Knowledge of Counseling Concepts Familiarity with or interest in learning Motivational Interviewing and the Stages of Change
- Professionalism and Confidentiality Respect for client privacy and adherence to ethical standards
- Initiative and Curiosity Eager to learn ask questions and engage in hands-on experiences
- Cultural Sensitivity Awareness and respect for diverse backgrounds and lived experiences
- Organizational Skills Ability to manage time follow through on tasks and maintain accurate records.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong presentation skills are highly desired.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Completion of the pre-student/Intern/Practicum onboarding process as determined solely at the discretion of Terros Health which may include a criminal background check and a pre-employment drug screen
- Must have a valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance card or apply for an Arizona fingerprint clearance card (Level 1) within 7 working days of assuming role.
