Job Summary

THE SELECTED CANDIDATE WILL BE OFFERED AN HOURLY RATE OF $19.50.

The Administration for Childrens Services (ACS) protects and promotes the safety and well-being of children and families through child welfare and juvenile justice services and community supports. ACS manages community-based supports and foster care services and provides subsidized childcare vouchers. ACS child protection staff respond to allegations of child juvenile justice ACS oversees detention placement and programs for youth in the community.

ACS Family Services Division (FSD) is a beacon of support to families by connecting them to community-based resources. The division works to provide resources that maintain the safety and well-being of families by promoting child and parent well-being strengthening the ability of parents and guardians to keep their children safe and reducing the risk of repeat maltreatment neglect and placements/re-placements into foster care. FSD provides guidance and resources to our contracted providers that strengthen their ability to assess and address the service needs of families we serve. FSD is seeking a highly-motivated and detail-oriented Research & Innovation Undergraduate Intern to join our team.

As Research & Innovation Undergraduate Intern you will support our R&I team in day-to-day operations and contribute to long-term projects aimed at strengthening prevention services for children families and communities. This internship offers an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to research activities in a government setting including data gathering and analysis literature reviews interviews human-centered design approaches policy analysis and cross-divisional feedback sessions.

Additionally as a member of the 2026 ACS Summer Internship Program cohort you will participate in an enrichment program designed to fully engage students into the ACS and NYC government experience. Internship programming includes professional development workshops lunch and learns speaker events NYC government tours and networking opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

-Conduct literature reviews on topics comprising of evidence-based and evidence-informed models and the use of peer support in behavioral health and child welfare including detailed analysis of implementation and impact studies

-Participate in the design and implementation of staff and/or family surveys to gather key data on program operations and practices

-Support findings with quantitative and qualitative data analysis

-Summarize findings orally and in writing to DPS leadership

-Provide administrative support to the R&I team as needed


Learning Outcomes:

-Gain comprehensive knowledge of how research is applied in a government setting

-Develop skills in conducting literature reviews data analysis and sharing finding to inform decisions

-Enhance abilities in collaborating across teams towards desired outcomes

Qualifications :

As of June of the Program year the prospective intern must be a student matriculated in a college or be a recent college graduate (winter/spring term of the Program year).
NOTE: Appointment to this title is only valid for the duration of the Program June - August each year.
