Summary: Mechanical Laboratory Technician - Tempe AZ. Phoenix National Labs in Tempe AZ is seekinga Mechanical Laboratory Technicianto test metals plastics rubbers ceramics and other materials as well as support nondestructive testing and metallurgical services. This is a permanent job typically working 40-50 hours per week. Local candidates and those willing to relo to Tempe AZ at their own expense encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities/Duties:

Operating testing machines that determine physical properties and strength of materials
Prepare test specimens
Calculate material properties based on test results
Determine acceptability of test results to job specifications
Prepare reports

Qualifications

Requirements/Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and mathematical skills. A two- or four-year Engineering Technology Degree or equivalent is preferred. Requires relo to Tempe AZ for non-local candidates.

Applicants must pass a drug screen and have a valid drivers license with a clean driving record.

Work Conditions:

Must be able to wear safety equipment as required by the safety department for personal protection.
May be required to work from heights on scaffolding ladders elevated platforms manbaskets etc.
May be required to work in confined spaces which will require crawling stooping climbing etc.
Work in and around operating equipment and industrial environments.
Work with radiation and hazardous materials such as cleaners penetrants film developing chemicals etc.
Ability to lift and carry 100 pounds.
