Description

Bestica is seeking aMedical Laboratory Technician towork at Brook Army Medical Center in San Antonio TX.

SCOPE: Perform qualitative and quantitative testing in a high complexity clinical laboratory and moderate complexity for the chemistry section using various analyzers and/or manual methods on specimen sources such as blood urine and other body fluids using established procedures. Organizing work by matching computer orders with specimen labeling; sorting specimens; checking labeling; logging specimens. Arranging reports for delivery; keeping work surface clean and orderly in accordance to local protocol.

Qualifications

Possessing a current license issued by the state in which the laboratory is located if such licensing is required.
Meeting one of the following educational and training criteria:
Having earned an associate degree or higher degree in a laboratory science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution or having education and training equivalent to that specified in paragraph (b)(2)(i) that includes:

At least 60 semester hours from an accredited institution including specific coursework in medical laboratorytechnology or science courses.
Laboratory training that includes completion of a clinical laboratory training program approved or accredited byrecognized organizations or at least 3 months documented laboratory training in each specialty in which theindividual performs high complexity testing.
Certification: Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or American Medical Technologists (AMT) (must be active)

Experience: One year of experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician within the last 2 years.
Basic Life Support Card by American Heart Association
