Job Summary

Description

Are you a fixer doer and all-around problem solver

If it breaks you fix it. If its about to break you stop it first. At YSS were looking for a Facilities Technician who can keep our buildings equipment and grounds in tip-top shapeand have a little fun doing it.

Youll team up with our Facilities Director manage vendors and jump into projects big and small. Basically you keep everything running so our staff and the youth we serve can do their thing without a hitch.

What youll actually be doing:

Opening and closing buildings like a boss
Tackling repairs maintenance and preventive work (we love a proactive fixer!)
Helping with seasonal prep and bigger projects
Using tools safelybonus points for making it look easy
Hopping over to outreach sites when needed
Answering the call for after-hours emergencies
Managing vendors contractors and your fellow humans when needed
Keeping inventory reports and office gear in check
Helping with purchases contracts and whatever else keeps our facilities humming

Qualifications

MUST HAVES - Required Qualifications

Hands-on experience: At least 2 years in the tradescarpentry construction custodial work electrical HVAC maintenance painting plumbing you name it.
Jack-of-all-trades mindset: If it breaks you fix it. Even better you prevent it from breaking in the first place.
Reliable transportation: A valid Iowa drivers license and dependable wheels to get where you need to be.
Youll be driving a YSS vehicle so we need you to:
- Be at least 21
- Have a valid drivers license anda clean driving record
- Carry insurance that meets YSS standards

SHOULD HAVES - Preferred Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.
Sharp eye for what needs attentionand the initiative to take care of it before anyone asks.
Strong multitasking skillsyou stay cool and organized even when things get busy.
Friendly dependable and customer-focusedpeople enjoy working with you.
Critical thinker and natural problem-solver.
Smart with resourcesyour tools time and teamwork are always used efficiently.

The IDEAL Candidate:

Communicates clearlywhether face-to-face or over email.
Comfortable using work order or ticketing systems to keep everything on track.
Knowledgeable about OSHA safety rules and building codes.
Bonus points for trade certifications that show your expertise.
