Position Summary
Selkirk Montessori School is seeking a highly skilled and collaborative Inclusive Education Intervention Teacher to support students in our Elementary and Middle School programs. This role is central to our commitment to inclusive strengths-based education within a Montessori learning environment. The successful candidate will deliver targeted academic interventions while working closely with teaching teams families and school-based
support services to ensure each learner can access the curriculum and thrive.
Key Responsibilities
Student Support & Intervention
- Design and deliver evidence-based literacy interventions grounded in the Science of Reading
- Support students with diagnosed and undiagnosed learning differences in alignment with Montessori principles through small-group and 1:1 intervention
- Adapt instructional strategies to meet individual student profiles and learning goals
- Introduce and support the use of bypass strategies and assistive technology tools
Assessment & Progress Monitoring - Conduct formal and informal assessments to identify learning needs and inform intervention planning
- Implement ongoing progress monitoring and adjust interventions based on data and student response
Inclusive Education Planning & Documentation - Develop implement and monitor Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
- Collaborate with the School-Based Team to support students requiring additional learning services
- Participate in case conferences problem-solving meetings and transition planning
- Communicate documented student progress through written reports meetings and ongoing dialogue
Collaboration & Community - Work collaboratively with classroom teaching teams to align interventions with classroom instruction
- Build strong respectful relationships with parents and caregivers
- Contribute to a school culture that values community inclusion and partnership
Qualifications & Experience Required:
- Masters Degree or Certification in Inclusive Education Special Education or a closely related field ; equivalent experience may be considered
- BC Teachers Certification
Preferred: - Training and experience in literacy intervention and/or the Science of Reading
- Strong background in assessment data-driven instruction and progress monitoring
- Experience developing and managing IEPs
- Excellent collaboration communication and relationship-building skills
