Position Summary
The Education Coordinatorfor La Jornadais responsible forthe management and administration of an educational center designed to meet the varied needs of children in a safenurturingand structured learning environment. Willensurethe delivery ofhigh-qualityinstruction that reflects NYAPs values culture and mission across various mediums and meets funding agency requirements. The Education Coordinator supervises teaching and administrative personnel.
RESPONSIBILITIES
TheEducation Coordinatorfor La Jornadawill perform administrative duties including but not limited to:
Perform all work in a manner consistent with the National Youth Advocate Programs Mission Values and Philosophies.
Serve as the educational leader at the assigned site.
Ensure that all staff have been provided with the necessary training as required byprogramto deliver necessary services.
Provide on-site management and leadership to the education center for UAC at assigned location. Develops andmaintainstraining needs assessment system for all staff.
Ensure curriculum and lesson plans are developed to meet the educational and developmental needs of individual children.
Monitor classroom activities to ensure childrens needs are met and to provide support to teaching staff as needed.
Ensure childrens progress and services are documented and assessed.
Assistwith staffselectionorientationand training.
Maintain regular communication with parents/guardians and program administration.
Ensure nutrition programcomponentmeets state and local licensing standards.
Ensure all area program records are maintained in a confidentialmannerand site reports are timely complete and accurate.
Perform all dutiesin accordance withpersonnel policies and fiscal guidelines.
Perform other duties as requested by the Education Director.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Masters degree in educationfrom an accredited school. Experience working with elementary school age children
3 years of supervisory experience in the field of education.
Must currently hold or be eligible for valid state licensure ifrequiredand related to job responsibilities.
Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers smartphones and tablets printers fax machines and photocopiers as well as software including word processingspreadsheet and database programs.
Bilingual (English Spanish). Fluency in Spanish is required.
Minimumautomobile insurance coverage of $100000/300000 bodily liability coverage.
21years of agevalidstate drivers licensereliablepersonal vehicle anda good drivingrecord.
OTHER SKILLS
Some travel isrequired.
Must be open and willing to work non-traditional work hours as well as on-call responsibilities.
Provide excellent internal and external customer service.
Mustpossessgood verbal listening and written communication skills
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Use of manual dexterity tactile visual and audio acuity.
Use of repetitive motion prolonged periods of sitting and standing and sustained visual and mental applications and demands.
Occasional lifting (up to 25 pounds) bending pulling and carrying.
Ability to travelfrequentlyand drivevehiclewhile sitting for extended periods with frequency varying based on program demands.
