About the position:

The Material Handler / Saw Operator position receives locates stores handles and sets up predetermined material; Operates as required automatic saw equipment to accurately cut material to customer specification; Ensures quality via quality check post cut. Job complexity ranges from simple highly repetitive tasks to repetitive but difficult tasks.

What youll need:

• Working mechanical knowledge/aptitude applicable with experience. Additional training provided.
• Able to understand basic correspondence instructions rules policies graphs and/or charts.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic (addition subtraction multiplication division) and use A tape measure and understand fractions.
• Vision includes acuity near and far color peripheral vision and depth perception.
• Hearing ability to exchange information with co-workers management and material handling equipment.
• Drive for results including a sense of timing follow through focus on priorities and quality.

  • Shop environment that offers protection from outside environmental conditions. Subject to changes in temperature (hot and cold) and humidity. Frequently exposed to moderate noise fumes odors dust and dirt.
  • While primarily standing or walking performs medium to heavy work exerting up to 50 lbs. of force regularly and/or up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally (with assistance) to move objects. Uses both non-powered and hand power tools.
  • Exposed to moving objects and vibration.
  • Frequent handling pinching reaching stooping kneeling crouching crawling turning and bending movement.
  • Is assigned duties according to specified procedures. Work is checked frequently.

What youll do:

• Receives stores handles cuts and ships material to meet shop and customer requirements.
• Loads and unloads material with the aid of a forklift or an overhead crane positioning material as required.
• Completes paperwork and inputs information into the computer system updating inventory.
• Sets up and operates saw selecting proper feeds and speeds adjusting as needed. Maintains necessary coolant concentration cleaning or replacing coolant as required.
• Inspects the quality of the material during and after the cut to make sure the piece is square.
• Uses measuring instruments as necessary including but not limited to tape measuring tape and micrometer.
• Checks identification on all material handled by stamping or marking with necessary numbers when required.
• Places saw crop ends in scrap boxes according to material grade.
• Performs saw blade changes when necessary.
• Delivers material to next area of operation as required.
• Completes required production reports using computer system as required.
• Reports defective material and faulty equipment to the Operations Manager immediately.
• Maintains a clean and safe work environment and abides by all plant safety regulations and work rules. Performs safety inspections on cranes chains slings and magnets.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Will be required to submit to a criminal background investigation. Pre-employment physical and drug screening will be required upon offer of employment.
