The Astrodynamics Team is responsible for conducting a range of modeling simulation and analyses in areas such as space mission design trajectory design orbital maneuvers orbit estimation space debris collision and avoidance analyses and space domain awareness.
Engineers in the Astrodynamics group are integral throughout the entire program lifecycle providing mission design inputs maneuver plans to meet mission objectives as well as console support for on-orbit operations. They are directly responsible for determining the necessary capability of the satellites propulsion system and successfully maneuvering vehicles during flight operations. They oversee the orbital Concept-of-Operations (CONOPS) from inception to on-orbit operations and through to end-of-life disposal.
As an Astrodynamics Engineer you will be the Responsible Engineering Authority (REA) for the Astrodynamics subsystem for a given program study or addition to execution of technical design analysis and operation you may be responsible for project and technical management activities to support programs ensuring that high-quality work products are delivered on-time.
In addition to your engineering responsibilities as an experienced member of the team you will be expected to set the engineering standard for the Astro team. You will define methods tools and processes to follow and you will be accountable for the quality of the work coming from the group at large. You will be expected to mentor other members of the team and develop the next generation of Astrodynamics engineering talent.
Position Responsibilities:
Build refine deploy and maintain astrodynamics tools to perform astrodynamics and orbit analyses
Determine and derive astrodynamics requirements to perform customer missions
Optimize spacecraft trajectories based on fuel time and/or performance characteristics
Develop tools and procedures for spacecraft mission execution
Perform station-keeping operations on orbiting satellites
Provide mentorship guidance and assurance ofengineering quality for the team
Security Clearance and Export Control Requirements:
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance. for which the US Government requires U.S. Citizenship. A final U.S. Top Secret security clearance is required post start.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree in aerospace engineering or other related technical or engineering discipline
5 years experience in aerospace systems design analysis and/or operation
Experience in orbital mechanics mission design and state estimation
Experience with scientific computing software (e.g. MATLAB Python C) and orbit design and simulation tools (e.g. GMAT STK etc.)
Familiarity with Rendezvous and Proximity Operations (RPO)
Technical leadership experience including requirements generation delegation and management of technical tasks and responsible engineering authority (REA) experience
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship post start.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
MS in astrodynamics aerospace engineering or other related technical or engineering discipline
8 years of industry experience in relevant roles
Experience with rendezvous and proximity operations and/or formation flight
Experience with orbit determination and parameter estimation techniques(Batch and Sequential Estimation Angles Only Range Measurements etc.)
Experience with on-orbit operations
Specialization in advanced orbital mechanics topics (e.g. trajectory optimization relative motion maneuvering orbit determination techniques etc.)
Possess active TS/SCI clearance

Level 3: $108800 - $160000
Level 4: $135150 - $198750
