Histology Technician

Hourly Pay Range:

Position Highlights:

• Position: Histology Technician
• Location: Northwest Community Hospital
• Full Time/Part Time: Part Time 20 hours
• Hours: Monday-Friday 7am-3:30pm

What you will do:

• Conducting tissue specimen processing to incudes: receiving accessioning and preparing tissue specimens for histological examination as well as embedding sectioning staining and mounting on slides.
  Ensuring the accuracy and reliability of histological slides by adhering to strict quality control measures and protocols.
  Operating and maintain laboratory equipment including microscopes and tissue processors. Examine slides to identify tissue abnormalities and cellular structures.
  Preforming various staining techniques such as hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining immunohistochemistry and special stains to enhance tissue visibility and aid in diagnosis.
  Documentation: Maintain detailed records of specimen processing staining procedures and quality control data. Document any discrepancies and take corrective actions as needed.
  Monitoring and restocking of laboratory supplies and reagents to ensure continuous workflow.
  Following safety protocols including handling hazardous chemicals and biological materials and maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  Collaborating with pathologists laboratory staff and healthcare providers to discuss findings assist in diagnosis and ensure timely reporting of results.

What you will do:

Education: Bachelors Degree Required
Certification: Required Certified Histotechnologist (HTL) - American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP BOC) Or
Certified Histotechnician (HT) - American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP BOC) Required
Experience: 1 Year experience in a Histology laboratory required.
Unique or Preferred Skills: Experience with microtomy staining and analyzing instruments within a histology lab setting (Leica Bond Benchmark Ultra H&E Stainer etc.)
