As we continue to expand and enrich our team we are currently seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our Human Resources & Finance Team.

Position Overview:

The PayrollManager will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely processing of a monthly payroll for approximately 850 employees within the school district. This position requires a high level of attention to detail strong organizational skills and a comprehensive understanding of payroll processes. The successful candidate will collaborate with various departments to gather and input payroll data accurately address employee inquiries and stay updated on relevant payroll laws and regulations. Skyward & Qmlativ experience preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • General Payroll Processingduties.
  • Collect verify and process payroll data for all employees.
  • Ensure accurate and timely distribution of paychecks and direct deposits.
  • Address and resolve payroll discrepancies and issues promptly.
  • Reconcile all payroll payables and process payments to payroll vendors
  • Compliance:
  • Stay informed on federal and state payroll regulations tax laws and compliance requirements.
  • Implement and maintain compliance with district policies and procedures.
  • Record Keeping:
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date payroll records.
  • Prepare and submit payroll reports as required.
  • Communication skills
  • Collaborate with HR Finance and other departments to obtain necessary payroll information.
  • Address employee inquiries and provide excellent customer service.
  • Reporting
  • Generate and analyze payroll reports to ensure accuracy and identify any discrepancies.
  • Prepare reports for management as needed.
  • Prepare and submit monthly transmittals to PERSI for retirement processing.
  • Report and track workmans compensation claims.
  • Technology Proficiency:
  • Utilize payroll software and systems efficiently. Skyward & Qmlativ experience preferred.
  • Participate in system upgrades and enhancements as necessary.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance Business Administration or related field preferred.
  2. Proven experience as a Payroll Specialist preferably in an educational setting.
  3. Strong understanding of payroll regulations tax laws and compliance requirements.
  4. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  5. Proficient in using payroll software and Google/Microsoft Office applications. Skyward and Unified Talent knowledge is a plus!
  6. Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  7. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
