Our Lakeshore West Existing Stations Rehabilitation team is looking for a Project the supervision of the Manager the Project Coordinator coordinates the design and construction of assigned infrastructure projects in a safe timely consistent and cost-effective manner. This position is primarily looking after Hamilton / West Harbour (subject to change) and requires construction-site presence and working from a site trailer throughout the week.
Start Rate (Non-negotiable):$49.68 per hour
What will I be doing
- Oversee the project work of contractors to ensure compliance with the Project Agreement Metrolinxs Engineering Standards Building Code and Site Plan Control Requirements and internal user group requirements through design and construction administration.
- Plan and report all capital project expenditures such as consultant fees purchase orders construction contracts change orders and cost sharing agreements with public or private organizations.
- Coordinate project design to minimize customer impacts ensure all internal and external approvals are obtained and that design reviews are completed timely and schedule restrictions are adhered to.
- Coordinate with external agencies including the Railways to ensure compliance with legislation codes and the requirements of governing/regulatory authorities including the incorporation of external agency work within GO Engineering Projects.
- Work on project team to ensure project completion and commissioning for handover to user group. This will require working on site and will require some night work.
- Prepare performance evaluation for consultants and contractors. Also prepare project post evaluation reports including project cost analysis.
- Will be working on an Alternative Funding and Procurement (P3) construction contract model.
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need
- A college diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or an equivalent combination of education training and experience providing a thorough knowledge of the theories and practices of engineering/architecture.
- Minimum five (5) years experience related to the planning design and construction of transit facilities interpreting and applying contract plans and specifications and coordinating contracted engineering projects.
- Thorough knowledge of the theory principles andpractices of civil engineering and architecture.
- Must successfully complete environmental safety and any other training and certification required to stay current on regulations and industry standards and as by corporate policy.
- Detailed knowledge of project management including cost control scheduling codes standards specifications corporate policies and procedures and applicable contract legislation.
- Understanding of Railway Rules and Regulations and Safety & Operating procedures.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills ability to work independently strong interpersonal skills and analytical ability are a must.
- Proficiency in the use of project management software and computer applications is essential.
- A Drivers Abstract (within the last 3 Years) will be required of the successful candidate reflecting a class G license in good standing.
- This position requires the successful candidate to be present at various designated onsite locations as assigned by their leader for a minimum of three (3) days each week. Additionally as an operational business continuity functional coordinator the candidate should be prepared to make regular visits during evenings weekends and holidays as necessary.
