Job Duties

The Alexandria Health Department is seeking a financially responsible professional to join our health district as an Office Service Specialist. The incumbent independently performs transactional functions that include verifying services data entry collecting processing and posting of client and third-party billing payments in the computer system receipting payments reconciling payments collected daily preparing delinquent accounts for next action debt collection status and generating financial AR reports. The position ensures compliance with HIPAA Laws and regulations and serves in a role that supports the functions of the administration division.

Provides administrative support to accounts Receivable operations. Communicate with clients regarding status of accounts flags accounts with appropriate collect action statuses. Verifies services rendered determines prior balance and current charges; explains charges collects payments or verifies patient or third-party billing; writes receipts. Enter payments into the computer system and reconciles receipts. Running and printing AR reports.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge of office and administrative principles and practices
Working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software applications
Ability to interpret and follow established procedures and guidelines
Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers verbally and in writing
Considerable skill in the operation of standard office equipment
