Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
TeHerenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a Rugby Academy Lead to join the University Recreation team on a permanent part-time contract.
This unique and exciting role stems from a partnership between Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington and Old Boys University Rugby Club working collaboratively to support the development of rugby playing students on and off the field.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead and execute a high-quality performance rugby academy experience for current student participants.
- Contribute to the identification and recruitment of new student rugby players to the University and OBURFC.
- Lead engagement activities across a national rugby network that can support Academy growth and performance in future years.
- Provide targeted and holistic wellbeing support for rugby- playing students with a particular focus on Māori and Pasifika athletes.
Ō pūmanawa - About you
Key requirements:
- Strong experience working or volunteering in rugby (through coaching/administration/management).
- Strong understanding of the tertiary environment and experience working with students.
- Excellent understanding of the NZ rugby scene with experience in Wellington a preference.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
- Strong personal administration and planning expertise.
