This position is currently located in Anchorage.
What you will be doing:
In this position you will work closely with Investigators and with business and community organizations to ensure compliance with local State and Federal Tobacco control laws. You will assist in enforcing laws prohibiting the sale and distribution of tobacco products to minors.
This position requires frequent travel within the state of Alaska.

Duties Include:
  • Conduct investigative activities under the supervision of Tobacco Enforcement Investigators.
  • Travel via airplane or vehicle to remote locations throughout the State of Alaska to assist investigators with inspections.
  • Work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays.

The working environment you can expect:
Candidates will work in a variety of settings and environments depending on where investigations/inspections are being conducted. Locations vary from rural communities such as Tok and Haines to major cities like Anchorage and Juneau.

Anchorage Regional Office

This postion is located in Anchroage Alaska:Conveniently located at 3601 C Street Suite 878 Anchorage AK 99503 in Midtown Anchorage within walking distance of Cuddy Family Park Loussac Library and Natural Pantry.

Must be 16 17 or 18 years of age. and Proof of enrollment in a recognized public charter vocational correspondence home or private school program; academic good-standing equivalent to a cumulative grade-point average of 2.0 or higher; and eligibility to receive a General Duties Work Permit from the Alaska Department of Labor & Workforce Development.

Special Note:
Academic transcripts will be construed as proof of enrollment.

Student Intern positions may be established and allocated to all job classes within the series. The interns are assigned and perform duties of progressive difficulty and complexity under diminishing levels of supervision as the intern successfully completes corresponding stages of the established training plan and evaluative criteria. Vacancies may be filled at either job class depending on the applicants training and/or experience. The department may request reallocation to a higher job class when: the intern completes the approved multiple class training plan and evaluative criteria; the supervisor certifies that the intern has met the minimum qualifications for the higher job class; and the incumbent is capable of performing at the higher level.

Additional Required Information

At the time of the interview please provide the following:

  1. A copy of academic transcripts (applicant must be a current student in good standing with a 2.0 GPA minimum). Transcripts are required with each application.   2. Two (2) letters of reference from certified educators if not already provided in the application
  3. One (1) personal letter of reference if not already provided in the application.
  4. Written parental or guardian consent to work in the program.
