This position is located at Wake JDC in Wake County NC. The Food Service Supervisor Position is responsible for:
- Maintains high standard of control for quality food productions and service.
-Provides nutritionally adequate meals meeting Federal Child Nutrition Program meal patterns and dietary standards while adhering to planned menus.
- Follows operational procedures for efficient and effective food production and service.
- Requisition food and supplies as needed check the cost and quality of items received and ensures proper storage
- Follows departmental procedure for inventorying food supplies and equipment.
- Maintains an environment conducive to protecting the health and well-being of the facilitys juveniles through high levels of food and safety and sanitation standards.
- Ensures that the required records and inventories are in compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Provide on-the-job training in equipment use and care quality of food production and state sanitation regulations.
- Creates schedules for employees in the department conducts yearly employee performance reviews recommends disciplinary of employees in the department when needed.
- Conducts foodservice staff meetings and trainings at the facility.
- Provide direct supervision to kitchen staff

Management Preference:These skills are not required but managers may choose to interview/select applicants who demonstrate Management Preferences.

  • Experience working in a commercial kitchen setting serving a large number of people.

  • Knowledge of cooking times and temperatures for food.

  • Knowledge of the Federal School Nutrition Program.

  • Experience supervising other foodservice staff

Work Schedule:

Work hours for this position vary to meet the needs of juveniles and their families. Must be able to work on-call hours weekends and holidays on a rotating basis.

Bachelors degree dietetics food management culinary arts hospitality management from an appropriately accredited institution;

or High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and four years of supervisory experience in the preparation and serving of food in quantity lots;

or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
