Position Summary:
As a Manual Software Tester at Akselos you will play a vital role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our Structural Performance Management (SPM) platform. This role involves designing implementing and executing a variety of tests to identify defects assess performance validate results and verify that our software meets all specified requirements.
Working closely with other testers and developers you will support complex structural simulation workflows across both desktop and web applications and Akselos structural simulation solver contributing to advanced engineering solutions used in the global energy and industrial sectors. Over time the role may adapt to meet changing business needs.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure the integrity of the software ecosystem by validating complex user workflows from initial setup to final output:
- Execute manual tests across web and desktop applications to validate that the simulation solver processes data accurately from model creation to result generation (create/open models configure runs launch solves review results).
- Perform exploratory testing on new features to identify edge cases that may deviate from standard user paths.
- Build a robust foundation for quality by developing comprehensive test cases that align with technical specifications:
- Design detailed test cases in collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure all functional requirements and technical constraints are covered.
- Document standardized testing procedures to maintain a consistent and repeatable quality assurance process.
- Facilitate rapid issue resolution by providing high-quality diagnostic information to the development team:
- Identify and report software defects within Jira to ensure stakeholders have a clear understanding of the errors / bugs.
- Generate supporting evidence including logs and screenshots to provide developers with the necessary context for efficient debugging.
- Maintain the reliability of the existing codebase by verifying that new updates do not negatively impact established functionality:
- Perform regression testing during every release cycle to ensure that bug fixes or new features have not introduced regressions into the system.
- Re-test resolved defects to confirm that specific issues have been fully mitigated before closing the ticket.
Must-to-have skills:
Education
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering Engineering Mechanics Aerospace Engineering or a related technical field.
Experience
- Experience related to testing both desktop and web-based applications to ensure functionalities and a seamless user journey.
Technical and Soft skills
- Strong understanding of the Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC) Bug Life Cycle and various testing methodologies (Functional Regression Black-box).
- Experience or strong interest in testing both Desktop (Windows) and Web-based applications.
- Experience with Agile development practices (e.g. Scrum Kanban).
- Familiarity with the Finite Element (FE) Method and Industrial finite element software. Ability to debug end-to-end simulation workflows (UI solver results) identify likely causes and create small reproducible models/test cases for bug fixes and regression coverage.
- Strong ability to write clear high-quality bug reports (steps expected vs actual results supporting evidence).
- Effective communication using English.
- Excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving skills especially when working with complex technical workflows.
- High aptitude for learning new technologies tools and engineering concepts quickly.
- Effective team collaboration skills with the ability to work closely with developers engineers testers and domain experts in a fast-paced international Agile setting.
Nice-to-have skills:
- Experience with Python programming to write automation tests.
- Have a basic foundation of FE method background understanding of FE analysis workflow.
- Familiarity with version control systems (Git Mercurial) including branching workflows and code review practices.
- Basic understanding of CI/CD (Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment).
- Possess a formal certification or have successfully completed professional training in software testing methodologies (e.g. ISTQB manual testing bootcamps or equivalent coursework) to demonstrate a solid foundation in QA principles.
