WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
Criminal Justice Technician 2 (CJT2) is the sole administrative support for the Tok Post assisting the public sergeant and three (3) troopers and serving as the Posts evidence custodian. Administrative duties include in-person and telephonic receptionist duties accurately entering data into criminal databases processing criminal paperwork collecting fees and reconciling cash ensuring payroll is completed correctly and timely and ordering and maintaining post supplies. Evidence custodian duties include receiving storing and managing the property maintaining the chain of custody for all evidence including weapons drugs and drug paraphernalia currency sensitive documents vehicles and bio-hazards and managing and providing evidentiary discovery to the District Attorneys Office. As a CJT2 you will have full proficiency in chain of custody duties.

THE WORKING CONDITIONS YOU CAN EXPECT:

Co-located with DMV at 1314 Alaska Highway the Tok Trooper Post has a private entrance for employees. The CJT2s desk is in an open area behind the public counter near the sergeants office and troopers squad room but separated from the prisoner holding cells. The public counter is separated by a window and the front door can be locked and unlocked remotely. You often will be the only person in the office with troopers in and out throughout your day.

Successful completion of training under a formally established Criminal Justice Technician 1-2 flexible staffing training plan with the State of Alaska;

This position requires the use or possession of a firearm or accordance with the federal Omnibus Consolidated Appropriations Act of 1997 (PL 104-208) if you have been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence you may not hold this position.

A misdemeanor crime of domestic violence is an offense that is (1) a misdemeanor under Federal or state law; and (2) has as an element the use or attempted use of physical force or the threatened use of a deadly weapon committed by a current or former spouse parent or guardian of the victim by a person with whom the victim shares a child in common by a person who is cohabiting with or has cohabited with the victim as a spouse parent or guardian or by a person similarly situated to a spouse parent or guardian of the victim.


BACKGROUND CHECK

This position requires the incumbent to submit to a fingerprint based criminal history background check. Due to the sensitive nature of this position and required access to APSIN an applicant with criminal convictions will not move forward in the selection process.
