The Dyslexia and Literacy Intervention Specialist will serve as an integral part of the team that develops and implements statewide Dyslexia training English Language Arts (ELA) Standards training and supports the Move on When Reading program around the state.
Responsible for building guidance documents providing technical assistance and providing professional development on literacy literacy disorders especially Dyslexia literacy assessments Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) Dyslexia Training Designee (DTD) support and promote compliance with Move on When Reading legislation.
Serves in an advisory capacity for statewide literacy and Dyslexia groups.
Occasional in-state and rare out-of-state travel is required for this position.
The Arizona Department of Education currently utilizes a hybrid work environment with up to two days of remote work (contingent upon business needs). Candidates should apply with an ability and willingness to work in-office up to five days per week as business needs necessitate.
| Job Duties: |
Professional Development: building revising scheduling delivering and overseeing multi-format professional development related to literacy literacy disorders including Dyslexia literacy assessments (screening/diagnostics/progress monitoring) MTSS Dyslexia Training Designees any specific professional learning as described in Move On When Reading and any other training for K-3 literacy such as implementation of reading interventions that are required through legislation.
Literacy Guidance and Technical Assistance: building maintaining and disseminating guidance documents and resources providing technical assistance over the phone via email and in person.
Oversee K-3 Dyslexia Training Grant.
Review intervention curriculum list and oversee Request for Information for the DTD approved training list.
Record Maintenance and Reporting: maintain records for professional development test scores and data related to literacy Dyslexia and Move On When Reading (intervention); build reports for multiple audiences to share data on literacy Dyslexia literacy assessments and Move On When Reading (intervention); present findings to multiple audiences maintaining and revising the Dyslexia website and portal.

Applicants must have a minimum of three years teaching or administration experience in a K-5 setting.
A Bachelors degree in education or equivalent experience to substitute for the degree is required.
