Summary of Job Duties:
This individual reports directly to the Information and Technology (IT) Manager while working with the Senior Network and System Administrator and the System and Network Administrator. The individual will assist in all aspects related to maintaining troubleshooting and planning the network infrastructure server deployments and upgrades and all MidSOUTH software applications. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the maintenance of Linux and Windows servers virus protection backups troubleshooting and future planning and maintenance of numerous software applications. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.
Qualifications:
Required Education and/or Experience:
- High School diploma or GED;
- Must be enrolled in an IT-focused degree plan or other related degree plan.
Preferred Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Management Information Systems (MIS) or Computer Science.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for working with the team members to consult in the development maintenance and administration of the MidSOUTH network including LANs WAN wireless and telecommunication;
- Maintain contact with UA Little Rock computing services regarding MidSOUTHs domain;
- Ensure the daily performance of applications and network systems;
- Label and document data communication lines hardware configurations and software configurations at the direction of the IT Manager or Senior Network and System Administrator;
- In conjunction with the Senior Network and System Administrator assists and/or ensures setup maintenance and troubleshooting of system-wide applications including the Windows Servers telecommunication virus protection and wireless systems;
- Responsible for the creation maintenance and troubleshooting of user and other accounts and settings for MidSOUTHs Active Directory Group Policy email and telecommunication systems;
- Implement solutions to resolve assigned help desk tickets and communicate solutions to other MidSOUTH IT staff and to the MidSOUTH staff person making the help request;
- Maintain update and troubleshoot business software and updates across MidSOUTHs statewide network;
- Respond to email and/or phone calls from vendors to ensure proper network and systems operations and future development;
- Write technical and client support documents as directed;
- Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of Network/Systems Administration;
- Provide support and expertise for Zoom training Zoom Webinars and Zoom Rooms.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of general computing applications;
- Knowledge/experience with Zoom Meetings and webinars;
- Knowledge/experience with Windows servers;
- Knowledge of Cisco networking equipment;
- Proficient in virtualization technologies;
- Excellent writing verbal customer service and organizational skills;
- Troubleshooting/problem-solving skills;
- Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team;
- Ability to work outside of normal working hours;
- Ability for occasional in-state and overnight travel.
