Ph.D. in Communication or a closely related field (ABD considered if degree is completed by time of employment);
Evidence of a research agenda in organizational applied or crisis communication.
Preferred Education and/or Experience
Demonstrated teaching experience in organizational and/or crisis communication at the undergraduate or graduate level;
Experience teaching in multiple modalities (face-to-face hybrid online);
Scholarship training or consulting experience grounded in organizational resilience organizational culture organizational crisis response Discourse of Renewal or related frameworks;
Demonstrated success in community-engaged or applied research;
Experience developing and facilitating training & development workshops for organizations or communities;
Commitment to the departments mission emphasizing positive communication collaboration and applied learning.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Organizational Communication Crisis Communication Leadership Training & Development Research Methods and COMM 10073 (Introduction to Communication);
Maintain an active program of scholarly and applied research;
Advise undergraduate and graduate students;
Develop and/or support organizational and crisis communication training initiatives for campus and community partners;
Collaborate with colleagues in a positive relationship-centered and team-oriented manner;
Serve on departmental college university and community committees;
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge of organizational communication theory research and applied practice;
Knowledge of crisis communication frameworks particularly Discourse of Renewal risk communication organizational resilience organizational culture and reputation repair;
Ability to teach effectively across modalities;
Ability to design and deliver applied learning experiences and training sessions;
Ability to work collaboratively and constructively with faculty staff students and community partners;
Skills in conducting applied community-engaged or practice-oriented research;
Commitment to supporting a mission-driven department culture that values positive communication and collaborative leadership.
