Designsembedded systemsfirmwareto supportAbbotts imaging and physiology products for the catheterization lab.Getsinvolved in the full development cycle including requirements design andtest. Works with a multidisciplinary team to integrate his/her work into a working system.Remainsabreastofandconsultsontechnicaladvancements.Identifiesandroutinelyusesthemosteffectiveandcost-efficientbestpracticestoexecuteprocesses;continuallyevaluatestheireffectivenessandappropriateness.


MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participates in the creation and design of novel solutions for intravasculardiagnosticsinstruments.
  • Develops tests and releases firmware for imaging and physiology peripherals.
  • Works withthe hardwaredevelopers tooptimizelow-level interfaces.
  • Capturesfirmware requirements from the overall product requirements.
  • Creates hardware abstraction layers to drive peripheral functions.
  • Participates in FMEA analysis and risk mitigation through firmware.
  • Creates test procedures to verify design inputs.
  • Develops testers to verify the functionality of peripheral subsystems in manufacturingand during the V&V process.
  • SupportallCompanyinitiativesasidentifiedbymanagementandinsupportofQuality Management Systems (QMS)EnvironmentalManagement Systems (EMS)andotherregulatoryrequirements.
  • ComplieswithU.S. FoodandDrugAdministration (FDA)regulationsotherregulatoryrequirements Companypoliciesoperatingproceduresprocessesandtaskassignments.Maintainspositiveandcooperativecommunicationsandcollaborationwithalllevelsofemployeescustomerscontractorsandvendors.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Preferred Masters Degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum5years
  • Relevantembedded systems/firmwaredesignusing RTOS (Real-Time Operating Systems)and testing toolsin a regulated environment.
  • Ability to understand the technology and operation of medical instruments at the system level.
  • Abilitytointerpret hardware designs and write abstraction layer drivers.
  • Ability to write requirements and APIdocumentationfor embedded systems.
  • Experience writing firmwarewith and withoutreal-time operating systems (e.g.Real-Time LinuxThreadx Free-Rtos etc.).
  • Experience with source control software
  • Exposure tosoftware FMEA and risk mitigationprocesses.
  • Ability to write programs to test peripheral subsystemsin manufacturing and V&V.
  • Command of the C programming language and relevant IDE development systems.
  • Command of test software programming languages
  • Specific experience with ARM Cortex chips
  • Specific experience with Nordic chips (ISM radios)
  • Experience working in Agile development teams.
  • Experience with Git.
  • Python and C/C# programming languages.
  • Previousexperience with firmware for medical devices.
