IT Application Developer (IT App Development Journey)


Salary:

For this position Step A is $84120 per year and Step L is $110364. The high end of the salary range Step M is $113148 and is typically a longevity step. All employees progress to Step M six (6) years after being assigned to Step L in their permanent salary range.

The Opportunity:

As anIT Application Developer you provide technical expertise and development support for the commissions digital services including enterprise application modernization system maintenance database integration and the implementation of new software features. Youll be responsible for designing coding testing and deploying software components that align with the agencys mission and statewide technical standards.


Additionally you serve as a primary technical resource for solving complex coding challenges ensuring the stability and performance of critical business systems. Through collaboration with business analysts project managers and divisional stakeholders you will ensure that digital services support the commissions mission by delivering secure accessible and reliable technology solutions.

Hybrid:

Although this is a hybrid opportunity the successful incumbentmust reside within Washington state andmust be available to report to the Lacey Washington headquarters building as needed.


Travel:

Local travel mostly within Thurston County is required to attend training and meetings. The duty station for this position is UTCs Lacey headquarters office. Employees are not compensated for travel time between their residence and the duty station.

Duties

Some of What Youll Do:

  • Apply advanced knowledge to write and update web pages and forms; create data connections and queries; design and build object classes methods and properties; compose report definitions; design code solutions and database tables; build stored procedures; and create or modify other computer code using Visual Studio SQL Server SQL Server Reporting Services C# JavaScript and other tools and languages in a mixed Dynamics and SQL environment to create and maintain custom applications needed by the agency.


  • Interact with customers via meetings conversations email and phone calls to identify application requirements priorities and other details needed to complete work assignments.


  • Write and conduct automated and manual application tests using test driven development design patterns to ensure additions and changes to applications work as expected and reliably perform to the users requirements.


  • Write documentation of designs deployments system features and procedures required to maintain applications using DevOps Word Excel SharePoint and other tools to ensure application maintainability and support troubleshooting.


  • Advise and coordinate with the IT Operations section to ensure system stability support patches and upgrades and plan application releases and deployments.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Four years information technology experience developing and maintaining computer applications (an associates degree or completed accredited information technology vocational training program will substitute for one (1) year of experience).
  • Advanced experience in Visual Studio C# SQL and JavaScript.
  • Experience or training in Agile development theory and practice

Desired Qualifications:

  • Intermediate experience in developing custom SharePoint 2016 (or later) applications.
