POSITION SUMMARY:
Operates the manipulator positioning material into the press and removal thereof after forging is complete.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Verifies correct dies are being used.
Loads material in furnace to be forged and pulls from the furnace and charge into press.
After removing air cool water quench fan cool or trim as applicable.
Assists with die set up tear down trim operation checking furnace temperature for correct setting stenciling of parts pulling baskets and putting back in quench tank where applicable.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Proficiency in operating a manipulator and positioning materials into the press ensuring correct die usage.
Ability to load materials into furnaces for forging and safely remove them for subsequent cooling or trimming processes.
Assistance with die setup tear down and monitoring furnace temperatures for proper settings.
Familiarity with air cooling water quenching fan cooling and trimming processes after forging.
Accuracy in tasks like stenciling parts and handling baskets for quenching.
EDUCATION:
High school diploma or GED and 3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
EXPERIENCE:
Relevant work experience operating machine tools including numerical control and manual lathes and machining centers.
Proficiency in reading blueprints interpreting specifications and understanding machine instructions.
WORK CONDITIONS:
While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger handle or feel objects tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance.
The employee must be occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision peripheral vision and depth perception.
While performing the duties of this job the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions extreme cold and extreme heat.
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
