Theres over a trillion pounds in UK pensions but the industry is full of traditional providers with outdated products and poor customer service. Penfold is dragging the pension industry out of the dark ages with a platform built on modern technology. Were demystifying pensions to make pension saving easy accessible and engaging.

Were a focused team of 50 based primarily across London and Tallinn and have raised significant funding from some of the most successful FinTech investors in the world. We manage over 1bn of pension assets for over 100000 savers and thousands of businesses and were growing rapidly every month. Our team is focused on building an amazing pension experience for our customers.

As we scale were strengthening our sales team to close more employers efficiently and consistently supported by a dedicated SDR function.

The role

As an Account Executive youll be responsible for sourcing and closing new business opportunities with UK employers working closely with an SDR who will generate and qualify a steady flow of inbound and outbound leads for you to close.

This is a hands-on quota-carrying role for a strong closer who enjoys running structured sales processes building trust with buyers and converting well-qualified opportunities into revenue. Youll focus on small to mid-sized deals typically with HR Finance or Operations stakeholders and help to make Penfold the pension provider of choice for growing businesses.

Core responsibilities

Close new business

  • Own a pipeline of qualified opportunities sourced by SDRs marketing and inbound demand
  • Run sales processes end-to-end: discovery demo proposal negotiation and close
  • Consistently hit or exceed monthly and quarterly revenue targets
  • Source and close high volumes of smaller deals efficiently while maintaining a great customer experience

Run effective sales cycles

  • Lead structured discovery calls to understand customer needs decision criteria and timelines
  • Deliver compelling product demos tailored to employer use cases
  • Clearly articulate Penfolds value proposition and handle objections confidently
  • Move deals forward with urgency while maintaining trust and credibility

Collaborate closely with SDRs

  • Partner with SDRs to ensure smooth handover of qualified opportunities
  • Provide feedback on lead quality messaging and common objections
  • Help refine qualification criteria to maximise conversion rates

Contribute to sales excellence

  • Maintain accurate pipeline management and forecasting in the CRM
  • Share insights from customer conversations with Product Marketing and Customer Success
  • Continuously improve how we sell by adopting best practices and experimenting with senior approaches

Who this role is right for

This role is ideal for someone who is sales-driven organised and motivated by closing deals and who thrives in a fast-paced high-growth environment.

Must-haves

  • Proven experience as a B2B Account Executive or similar closing role
  • A track record of hitting or exceeding sales targets
  • Strong discovery demo and objection-handling skills
  • Confidence selling to HR Finance Operations or business owners
  • Comfortable working with qualified leads as well as full-cycle outbound

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience selling SaaS FinTech HR tech payroll benefits or financial services
  • Familiarity with regulated or trust-based products (e.g. Pensions Investments Payroll Financial Services)
  • Experience working in a scale-up or high-growth environment
