CLASSIFICATION:Classification VII per Schedule A of the collective agreement

DEPARTMENT: Office of Innovation Partnerships & Entrepreneurship

HOURS OF WORK: Monday to Friday 8:30am 4:30pm

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Research Partnerships Coordinator will be a liaison between the University research enterprise and community and industry partners with the primary goal of facilitating more funded research grant collaborations. This position acts as an ambassador of the University of Windsor at external events and meetings for public/private sector partners funding agencies and the research community to identify and facilitate the development of opportunities for collaborations on funded grants with University researchers. The incumbent will create execute and maintain relationships and account management strategies for key internal and external partners and will consult and support through the granting process. The position will also support knowledge mobilization and activation activities and support the technology commercialization operation within the Office of Innovation Partnerships and Entrepreneurship.

The key job functions include:
Research Partnerships & Outreach: Identify develop and manage partnerships between researchers and industry community and government stakeholders through outreach networking and account management.
Knowledge Mobilization & Translation: Support researchers with partner development grant applications and knowledge mobilization strategies; deliver workshops and promote research activities.
Project & Process Support: Contribute to strategic initiatives develop content and materials and support internal processes KPIs and standard operating procedures.
Research Commercialization: Support industry collaboration invention disclosure intellectual property protection and funding strategies to advance technology commercialization.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
The candidate will possess:
Undergraduate University Degree in a relevant field (engineering business science)
Three (3) years of demonstrated Business Development or Account Management Experience in a for-profit or not-for-profit setting
Demonstrable familiarity with the disciplines of science engineering or social sciences
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills including tact diplomacy discretion and good judgement and experience liaising with high-level industrial players
Demonstrable ability to build and maintain effective relationships with a broad range of internal and external parties
Ability to appropriately identify and solicit private and public external organizations that are suitable for collaboration
Demonstrable negotiation and business development skills
Demonstrable success in project management
Excellent organization and time management skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Experience in technology transfer and commercialization or product development with a working knowledge of intellectual property agreements and processes
Ability to travel nationally and internationally
Demonstrated proficiency with computer technology including database administration and MS Office Productivity Suite (Word PowerPoint and Excel)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduate Degree
Knowledge of Federal and Provincial research and development funding agencies
Knowledge of local business community and innovation ecosystem
