Qualifications:

• South Carolina Certification as required for the position or eligible for appropriate certification

• Bachelors Degree

• Excellent written and oral communication skills

• Success in coaching varied sports

• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board may find appropriate

Job Summary:
The Physical Education Teacher is responsible for organizing innovative games and challenges that promote physical activity among all students.

Essential Duties:

• Teaches knowledge and skills in physical fitness health education and individual dual or team sports utilizing a standards-based curriculum
• Works cooperatively with other consortium physical education teachers in planning and implementing a balanced physical education program.
• Analyzes demonstrate and explain basic skills knowledge and strategies of formal sports games and fundamentals of physical movement.
• Develops lesson plans and supplementary materials that support core content standards
• Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to provide an orderly productive and safe environment in the physical education areas to ensure the overall safety of students.
• Evaluates academic and social growth of students and prepare report cards.
• Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to stand walk sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 55 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is continuously interacting with the public staff and students. The employee frequently must meet multiple demands from several people. The employee is regularly required to sit and stand. The employee is required to walk; use hands to finger handle or feel objects tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Occasionally the employee must use hand/grip strength to operate office equipment.

Terms of Employment:
190 days/Paid on Teacher Salary Scale salary and work year to be established by the Board.
