Job Summary

As the Manager of External Communications you will manage the team responsible for the planning and execution of external communications strategies across a variety of business teams including Best Buy Ads Marketing Supply Chain and more.

In this role you will work directly with leaders across the company to plan and execute media relations strategies build relationships with key external media partners and work collaboratively with various business functions to provide strategic public relations guidance on behalf of the External Communications team.

This role is hybrid which means you will work some days at our corporate office in Richfield Minnesota and some days virtually from home or another non-Best Buy location.

What youll do
  • Manage the team responsible for developing and executing external communications strategies for various business teams including Best Buy Ads Marketing Supply Chain and more.
  • Manage proactive and reactive media relations strategies for national local and trade media outlets including building relationships with reporters editors and producers both locally and nationally.
  • Develop and support external communications strategies for select executives including researching and vetting opportunities speaking engagements and more
  • Manage media relations within select local markets and with local news outlets
  • Advise and media train Best Buy employees including senior leaders
  • Serve as a spokesperson for the company

Basic Qualifications
  • 7 years of experience in Communications Public Relations or related field.
  • 7 years of developing and implementing strategic communication plans.
  • 7 years of writing and editing content for a variety of audiences and vehicles.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experienceeffectivelyleading people.
  • Demonstrated experience with meeting aggressive daily weekly deadlines.
  • Strong media relations skills.
  • Strong ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment working on assignments with overlapping priorities and timelines.
  • Experience partnering with and supporting senior leaders to develop and deliver clear consistent communications.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills.
