We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer to join the Applied Science team within Engineering building and supporting data that drives analytics for both internal teams and Loopios customers. This role focuses on empowering teams with valuable data assets to improve decision-making productivity and acts as a reliable foundation for any research and analysis activities. Youll play a key role in shaping Loopios data strategy in a dynamic and evolving technology landscape.

You will partner closely with ML Engineers Software Developers Data Scientists Product Managers and other business stakeholders to help us take Loopios data value to the next level.

This role requires close collaboration with teams across Canada the UK and India.

What Youll Be Doing

• Ownership and Leadership: Act as a glue between stakeholders engineering teams and researchers to drive progress on complex shared initiatives. Be an expert in your area and a go-to person for data-related requests and enquiries.

• Scalable Data Platforms & ETL Pipelines: Design build and optimize data pipelines to support high-scale data ingestion transformation and storage. Develop efficient ETL workflows using Databricks Redshift and various AWS cloud technologies.

• Data Engineering for ML & Analytics: Develop and maintain a feature store to support predictive models AI-driven insights and data science applications. Enable seamless integration of structured (RDS MySQL) and unstructured (clickstream logs) data into the data lake / data warehouse / data mart layers.

• Automation & Orchestration: Build robust automation tooling for data orchestration testing monitoring and administration. Leverage workflow orchestration tools (Airflow Databricks Workflows) to streamline data operations.

• Cloud & Big Data Infrastructure: Architect scalable data solutions leveraging AWS services (S3 Redshift Lambda RDS DMS) and distributed computing frameworks (PySpark Lambda fleets etc). Optimize query performance and ensure reliability in high-volume environments.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Data Scientists ML Engineers and business stakeholders to create AI-powered insights drive product improvements and enable data-driven decision-making.

What Youll Bring to the Team

• Data Engineering & Cloud Expertise: 5 years of experience in data engineering with hands-on experience in ETL data architecture and cloud-based data platforms. Strong proficiency in AWS (S3 RDS Redshift Glue IAM DynamoDB).

• Advanced DB engines expertise & Data Processing: Deep understanding of database design query optimization and data modelling. Expertise in distributed data processing frameworks (Spark Databricks Presto).

• Software Development & Orchestration: Strong Python and PySpark development skills. Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins) and data workflow automation (Airflow Databricks Jobs).

• Scalable Systems & Performance Tuning: Proven ability to build and optimize large-scale data infrastructure ensuring low-latency access efficient storage and high reliability.

• Leadership & Collaboration: Strong problem-solving skills ability to work in fast-paced environments and experience mentoring engineers or driving technical initiatives.

Where Youll Work

• Loopio is a remote-first workplace because we recognize the advantages of working flexibly. We are HQd in Canada with established hub regions around the world where we hire from.

• Our employees (or Loopers as we call ourselves!) live and work in Canada (British Columbia and Ontario) London and India (specifically in Gujarat Maharashtra and Bengaluru).

• The majority of our team is based in ON and BC which means these employees live and work remotely within a 300km radius of Toronto (within Ontario) and Vancouver (Within BC).

• We offer flexible co-working locations available to Loopers in ON and BC. Those based in ON have the option of working out of our convenient co-working space located in the heart of Downtown Toronto and a 12-minute walk from Union Station. BC Loopers have the option to work centrally in Vancouver. It is whatever works best for you!

• Youll collaborate with your teams virtually across the UK India and North America (were just a Zoom call and Slack message away!) with core sync hours and focus time for headsdown work during the workday
